Wicked Tribulations, Wicked Surprises & Wicked Adventure

Wow! November 3 was a day I would never forget I had the best time of my life. On that day my class and I had went to go see an amazing musical called “ Wicked” in downtown Toronto. When Mrs. Thomas told the class that we were going to see the play Wicked in my head I was just like oh my gosh that musical seems so stupid I see the advertisements on the TV all the time. There I go again judging a book by its cover. But when MsThomas started telling us how good the musical is going to be, I'm just like you know what I want to go see it and open my eyes to a different type of world or singing dancing and acting. I'm glad I did open my eyes to that type of world because the Show was AMAZING!
Now before we actually went to go see the play we were given permissions forms, the price to see this musical is $70. Now a days I barely ask my parents for money because I always here my parents parents arguing about bill or just about money. So asking them for $ 70 just to go on this trip was really hard for me because of the stuff I hear them arguing about and on top of that I was in trouble with my dad. I was in trouble with my dad because I refuse to in my house by 3:25 to babby sit my 8 year old sister. That day I went to tell my about the trip and when I did she was like that's a bit pricey, but then she had asked me if I wanted to go and I said no. I had only said no because if my parents are arguing about bills and everything I thought $70 would be a lot to ask for and I was also thinking about my birthday that's coming up November 30 and what present I would want. So let’s fast forward a little it was one week before the trip and I still had not handed in my money yet and I barley even talk to my mom about the trip. But in class Mrs. Thomas was giving us one of her touching speeches that I just find so inspirational and powerful. While she was giving us her speech I started to cry because what she was saying was very touching. Now I remember breaking down when she had said “don’t you wish you could just help someone out and give them money if you found out that a kid in your class couldn’t go on the trip because their parents cant afford it” and she had said something else that also brought more tears in my eyes but I cant remember what she said. But her just saying what said was so true like sometimes my parents can’t afford the stuff that me and my bother and sister want so asking them for $70 was a very hard thing to do.  Long story short my had talked to Mrs. Thomas and was telling her that she wants me to on the trip and my mom gave me a Post dated check on November 3. So that was my tribulation.
My adventure was me going downtown to the Eaton Centre and going shopping with Michelle, Eshe and Celeste. I had a really good time with them because all of us put together are some funny people. And we got to make some new grade 12 friends who were Justine and I find her very funny and nice her personality is very cool, and Princess T twin sister she is very nice and funny to.
The show Wicked was just amazing to me the singing was good the acting was good the whole thing just surprised me. The musical Wicked explores the concept that the Wicked Witch of the West, here known as Elphaba, was a misunderstood, victimized person whose behavior was merely a reaction against a charlatan wizard's corrupt government. It also shows her relationship with the beautiful and ambitious Galinda Upland, who ultimately becomes Glinda the Good Witch of the North. Through the show, their friendship struggles to endure extreme personality conflicts, opposing viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, and Elphaba's eventual fall from grace. If I could I would see this musical again and it was by far the best musical I have ever seen.

Practise Makes Perfect

Well I'm watching a lot of make up commercials on YouTube so I can do well for my performance on Thursday because everybody in class was given a script on commercials they had to do and my commercial is called, Lip Fruit Lip Gloss! Now during my study of these commercials the one that stands out to me the most for make up advertising is Cover Girl. For Cover Girl they are always Happy vibrant and exciting and they know how to play with the camera and sell the product. While I'm watching these videos I'm learning that I should smile, be enthusiastic, and just have fun but not mess up the lines. So I'm going to try to put that into my performance. As I'm doing my research and watching these cover girl commercials the three people that stand out to me the most are Drew Barrymore, Queen Latifa and Rihanna. Those had caught my eye while I was doing my presentation because their energy with the camera was so amazing to me. For example when Drew is doing a commercial she has a lot of spunk, attitude and she is also having fun with what she is doing and I love watching her commercials on the TV. My other favourite out of the three is Queen Latifa, I love watching her commercials because I thinks its so cool how she can go from a rapper to an actor and have endorsements by Cover Girl. Rihanna’s commercials always make me so happy because she is always bubbly and you can see that she is having a lot of fun with her advertisements and that makes me want to buy the product even more.
This is what I will be reading to my class on Thrusday, “ Now that I'm thirteen my mom lets me wear lipgloss, “I found the best one the other day its called Lip Fruit and it comes in all these yummy flavours like Cherry, Vanilla and Banana. It looks good it taste good and even my mom likes you cant get any better than that. Lip Fruit Lip Gloss!”

Movies This Weekend

This weekend Anissa, Olivia and I decided that we wanted to see a movie on Saturday because most weekends we don’t spend time together.  The choices for which movie we wanted to see were Jack ASS 3D or Paranormal Activity 2. The movie Jack Ass is about a bunch of guys doing stupid stunts that are really funny. Paranormal Activity 2 is the sequel to Paranormal Activity.  So After experiencing what they think are a series of "break-ins", a family sets up security cameras around their home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem, and that is what Paranormal Activity 2 is about. So we decided to watch that movie. There are two reasons why we wanted to see it, the first one is because we wanted to get scared and the other reason is Anissa and I had already saw the first one so it would make sense if we see the second one. Me and Anissa saw the first one a year ago today on October 31st because we both don’t celebrate Halloween and we were in grade 9 and now we are in grade 10.
In order for me to go the movies on Saturday I had to do a lot of work around the house so my parents could say yes. Everyday I had to come in at 3:25pm to babysit my sister, I also had to clean up the kitchen before my parents got in from work and also made sure the house was clean before they came in. Now last week it was parent teacher interviews and it was either going to make it or brake to see if I could go to the movies on Saturday. I'm glad to say that none of my teachers had anything bad to say about me so that meant I was a few steps away from going to see Paranormal Activity with my friends. On Friday night I had asked my mom if I could to the movies on Saturday and she said yes but when I asked her again on Saturday she said I’ll think about it. When I heard those words I was mad and pissed off. So 12:00pm I went straight to my room and did my homework and studied. But when 3:00pm came I knew had to clean my room, clean the bathroom, vacuum up the steps and clean the kitchen before I went anywhere. After I did all that I asked my a second time if I could go to the movies and she said yes.
Once my mom said yes I called Anissa on the phone and told her I could go. Once I was done doing that I went straight up stairs into my room and plugged in my flat iron and turned on my CD player to play the new Trey Songz CD Passion Pain and Pleasure and started getting ready for the night. So Anissa and I got a ride to the theatre and we just met Olivia there. When we get to the theatre we realized that the line for us to purchase are tickets was to long so we thought the movie was going to be sold out. Once we are all at the front of the line the guy tell us their is only 31 seats left and its at the front then we asked him what time the next movie starts and it started at 7:35pm. We decided to just go to the 7:35pm movie instead. As we go in the theatre to sit down and watch the movie I noticed that the theatre was starting to get really packed and we just hurried up and quickly found are seats.
The movie was funny but it scared the living daylights out of me and I don’t think I can ever look at my door and basement door the same again. But I had a good night with my friends.

Hard Work Pays Off

The Branding was a very hard group project that I have ever got in all my days going to school. This experience was very stressful and I got to see peoples true colours when they cant handle the pressure and when people start to panic and worry. This whole experience taught me alot, it taught me that when your in a group you should never slack off, not saying that i do slack off. It also taught me that you must have communication with everybody and it taught me good presentation skills and good business skills. What I liked most about this experience is putting on the show for Mrs.Thomas and her judicators which were her grade 12s and showing them the final product. Basically for this project we were only given one week and our class was split into two groups one groups one group was called  Enigma Productions and the other was called Prolific Productions. Our Main task was to show Mrs.Thomas and the Judicature why they should pick Enigma because of our Misson and Vision statement and also how we presented it to them. But unfortunately are group did not win the winner was Prolific Productions. But even though the other group won I thought it was a good learning experience and I would be happy to do it again.

This Is The Worst Monday Ever

Today was the worst Monday of my Life, first of all this morning it as foggy and foggy weather means bad hair weather. Second of all I had to stand up at the bus stop and wait for my brothers school bus so he could go to school oh yeah and by the the bus did not even show up! So I get back in my house rushing to get ready to go to school, then it hits me I have to walk my brother to school. Now by this time its 8:30am and I haven't even ate my breakfast yet while everybody in my house did and my hair is not even done. To make matters worst from my house to brisdale is like a 20min walk and my school starts at 9:00am. So I get my brother ready so I can drop him to school and we leave the house at 9:05 and his school starts at 8:45 so he is already late like me. Now my brother is only 3 about to turn 4 and he cant walk fast like me so it took us forever to get to his school and by the way we had to walk in the fog and walking in the fog is dangerous. Cause you cant see anything. So I finally get to my school LATE! quickly go to the bathroom and fix up my hair and thank god I brought my flat iron to fix my bangs. So I was just not feeling good this whole day I was so mad that when school was finished I just left I didn't even bother to stick around. And to make matters worst I didn't even eat Breakfast this morning and this was my first time not eating breakfast before I go to school. Then  I reach Mrs.Thomas class and she was like " HAPPY MONDAY GUYS!" so I said happy Monday to her when honestly i wanted  say I HATE MONDAYS. But its like what Mrs.Thomas says " FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT".

Commercial Experience

Well some of you may know I have been talking about the Lip Fruit commercial and how I have been practising. Well on Thursday we had had presentations and I was sort of nervous and I was trying to take a deep breath and calm down after I did that I felt ready. But then I heard that the order for the presentation and it was starting from the bottom up and I was so upset because that meant I was going up first. That's when I started to get nervous again because I have to go second and iI like to watch other peoples performances so I get a feel of things. When I was talking to Eshe and telling her that I don't feel ready she told me come on I know you can do this. When she told me that I felt all better. Now it was my turn to present in front of my class. I don't know what happened but what i practised at home i couldn't deliver to the audience and that's what made me upset, I think my nerves got the best of me. I was even more shocked that i got a level 5.

Now that I was done and finished with my presentation for the commercial I was able to watch other people in my class present what they have been practising for a week. As I was sitting down and watching I would notice that Mrs. Thomas would stop the other performances and help them out a little to show them what they could do better and what they can improve on. When she was doing that I felt like I was at a real audition and she was the casting director. For the commercials there were three that stood out to me the most and they were Eshe, Celeste and Schanelle Campbell.  Eshe commercial was very believable she had an excellent costume because she was advertising a brand called “Pink” so she was dressed in all pink, and just the way she delivered her commercial was really good to.  I really liked Celeste performance because she didn’t show that she was nervous and I like the way she presented her commercial because it had a lot of attitude and it was fierce. For schanelle’s commercial I thought it suited her very well the way she did it looked like she had a lot of experience with the camera.
When I went home I told my mom how the commercial presentations went and how I felt about mine and what I could have done better. But I was really mad at myself because when I went home I did my commercial in front of the mirror with more action and I wish I would have done that in front of my class.

Dear Diary

Dear Diary

I would first like to say thank you to Miss. Thomas, Sharisa, Jordan, & Princess T for allowing our class to start blogging. Now i have never written a blog before so this will be my first one.
On Friday Oct,15,2010 our class was practicing our slide shows that we will have to present Monday Oct, 18,2010 and I guess while we were practicing Miss Thomas was sort of upset that we were not taking in what she and sharisa, Jordan and Princess T are telling us. And they mostly tell us to study our Characters. For example if I was to play a rich girl who was snobby and who only cared about herself I study Hilary Banks from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air because that's the character I'm trying to become and she would be a good character to study. So over the weekend i have been studying my Character to make sure I'm using the stuff i learned this weekend and try to put that into my performance come Monday.
